A milestone awaits the green flag this weekend for the Deep South Cranes Blizzard Series at Five Flags Speedway (FL). The series has been run under the ASA Southern Super Series since 2013. This coming Friday will be the 50th Blizzard Series race run under the Southern Super Series banner.
“It’s truly a historic deal to have a 50th race in any series at the same track,” said track General Manager Tim Bryant. “We pride ourselves on our Blizzard Series that leads up to the Snowball Derby and the ASA Southern Super Series is just an extension of our track and our staff and our goals to produce a great product for the fans.”
The Blizzard Series has run 5750 laps at Five Flags and they will add another 100 laps to that total this weekend. Over those 50 races there have been 18 different winners with five drivers having won more than one race. Bubba Pollard, who has 25 Blizzard Series wins, has won 19 times under the Southern Super Series flag.
The Pensacola Sports 100 on Friday will be the first leg of the weekend doubleheader. The ASA Southern Super Series will move across the bay to race at Mobile International Speedway (AL) on April 12th for the Mobile Sports Authority 100.
If a driver can win both races they will receive the Diamond Seamless Solutions $5,000 bonus. Gulf Coast Graphix will pay $1,000 to the driver with the best average finish over the two nights.
