RATTLER 250 WEEKEND POSTPONED DUE TO CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC

Despite the best efforts of the staff at South Alabama Speedway, the 44th Annual Rattler Weekend has been postponed amid the coronavirus pandemic that has impacted major events throughout the country. Originally scheduled to be held this coming weekend, March 20-22, the event has been postponed to a later date.

“We did all that we could with what’s going on but all of what is going on is catching up with all of us," said John Dykes, Owner of South Alabama Speedway. "This is an important event for everyone so we are postponing for a couple of weeks and hope that things are resolved by then."

Although there are currently no restrictions placed on large gatherings in the state of Alabama, track management foresees that changing in the future. As a courtesy to the race teams and others traveling to the event, the tough decision to postpone the event was made.

A rescheduled date is expected to be announced within the coming days.

The format for the rescheduled event will remain the same. Late Model practice will be held Friday prior to local division features at 7 p.m. Saturday's schedule will feature qualifying for both Pro and Super Late Models before the 15th Annual Grasshopper Pro Late Model Rattler 125 later that night. Sunday will serve as race day for the 44th Annual Rattler 250, the season opener for the Southern Super Series.

As of Monday morning, 30 Super Late Model entries had been submitted for the race. A full list of current entries can be found by clicking here.
