We won’t have to wait much longer to kick off the 2025 ASA Southern Super Series first race of the year. The annual SpeedFest event at Cordele Motor Speedway is back for its 20th running in Central Georgia. The 150-lap Super Late Model race is run in conjunction with the ASA CRA Super Series. The JEGS/ CRA All-Stars will run a Pro Late Model event prior to the Super Late Model race.
This year’s field features a mix of seasoned veterans and talented newcomers, guaranteeing an exciting start to the 2025 season.
Leading the way in the veterans department are four-time SpeedFest winner Bubba Pollard from Senoia, Georgia. He’s won the last three and is looking for another win at Cordele. Matt Craig is back after a second-straight season of finishing second in the Southern Super Series points. Stephen Nasse is a two-time Southern Super Series champion and he’s fresh off his runner-up finish in the Snowball Derby in December.
Other key entries include 2024 Winchester 400 winner Cole Butcher from Porter’s Lake, Nova Scotia. The Milwaukee Mile 100 winner Dawson Sutton also entered the race after placing in the top five last season. Michael Hinde will also be back at Cordele after he was second in the Southern Super Series race last fall before he won the World Crown 300 at the same venue.
The veterans will have to deal with the NASCAR stars as Dawsonville, Georgia driver Chase Elliott will seek his fourth-career SpeedFest win after having won at Cordele in the past. Elliott will be joined with Ross Chastain who will be making his first Super Late Model start of his career. The former Speedweeks Limited Late Model champion ran the Pro Late Model portion of SpeedFest last year and placed second.
The action gets underway with practice and qualifying on Friday, January 17th at Cordele track. Post time is 1pm on Saturday, January 18th.
The ASA Southern Super Series begins its 13th season as a premier Regional Tour. In 2022 SSS, based in Pensacola, FL, formed an alliance with Track Enterprises and their ASA Midwest Tour, ASA Champion Racing Association, and the ASA STARS National Tour, in an effort to unify Super Late Model Racing on a national level.
